2, 2004 2:34 PM I may be new to this whole "blogging" thing, but one thing I've noticed is that everyone always comes on Monday and talks about their weekend! So, let's see - how was mine? Well, it was busy. I devoted Saturday to reading scripts. My agent is very talented, but there were a couple things in there I can't believe he sent by (sorry Dave!). I specifically told him I wanted to wait at least 5 years before doing another movie set in a postapocolyptic distopia. So it was with much chagrin that I read not one but two scripts in this style. The first was set in a world where plants had developed super-intelligence and covered the earth, and the only humans left were a rag-tag band of outcasts trying to cut their way through the intercontinental jungles, one branch at a time. The other script was set in a future where a "gravi-bomb" had eliminated half of the earth's gravity, so everybody just sort of floats around. This one had Susan Sarandon attached, and as eager as I am to work with my lovely "Bull Durham" co-star, the script just fell (or floated) flat. I was pretty depressed after reading these two stinkers, so I needed something to cheer me up. I looked in the liquor cabinet, but nothing in my collection of aged single malt scotches seemed to excite me. Then it hit me... maybe I needed a little cheering up mexicaliente style... yep - I'm talking about a plate of my "untouchable" bison fajitas... I summoned the Costner fam up to the kitchen and whiped up a sizzling skilletfull of this delicacy... Having read a lot of the other blogs on the Internet, I see that many of you need cheering up, as most of you have just broken up with your boyfriends, or have unrequited crushes, or just got dumped. Some of you even got rather unpleasant results from the "Which Clay Aiken Song Are You" quiz you just took. So, turn that frown upside down with this easy recipe! THE COST-MAN'S SIZZLIN' SOUTH OF THE BORDER BISON FAJITAS! 1 lb. Bison skirt, flank or round steak (cut 1/2 inch thick slices) Marinade: Garnishes: Pound meat into 1/2 inch thickness. Place steak slices in plastic bag; sprinkle both sides of steak with lime juice, garlic salt and pepper. Tie bag securely and marinate in refrigerator 6-8 hours. Drain marinade, broil meat over medium mesquite coals 2-3 minutes on each side. Carve into thin slices, serve in warmed tortillas. Add garnishes as desired. Hint -- When cutting thin slices of meat have the whole piece slightly frozen, it will slice easier! PREVIOUS ENTRY -- NEXT ENTRY |
